They just fire you, and then pay someone else to pull it online = as long as they don't mention they pull it online.  I made a post a while back about (probably this SAME client).  I'm still salty how they fired me, after working for them for well over 10 years.  They never complained, all the times that I provided what they wanted, in a timely manner.  They never said I did anything wrong, or pulled the wrong documents.  NOPE!  My only "crime" was pulling documents online, exactly how my counties set things up during Covid.  But they didn't want to hear what I had to say about it . . . then they recently had the nerve to ask me to update my information, so I could get paid LOOOOOOOL.  What a joke!
