Heather, I recently retired but I was in the title business here in Colorado for many years. I agree with what Victoria told you. There are some independent researchers who are keeping busy, though most of the searching is done in-house by title companies (or overseas, of course). Although I have never done any kind of title work in Louisiana, I am sure that Colorado is quite a bit different - every other state is quite a bit different than Louisiana.
I also agree that there is a big difference between how things work in the Denver/Front Range area than in Pueblo and other areas of the state. Those differences affect title searches in some ways. For instance, part of Southern Colorado has titles that are derived from old Spanish land grants; mountain areas have issues with mining claims, parts of the state (including some parts of the Front Range) have significant oil and gas leasing, etc.
Title searching jobs seem to be getting fewer and fewer, but it might be easier for someone coming from out of state to check on employment possibilities with a title company in the area to which you will relocate.
Good luck.
