Patrick is right. This is becoming more common. We've had a few clients require this as well. All of our employees have very thorough background checks run on them prior to hiring. So it's not an issue for us. We didn't have to supply results to the client, just signed an affidavit stating we do so. We also had another client ask for auto insurance info as well for employees that drive company vehicles. I was in disbelief when I read that. This is a BIG bank, so they may be required by the government to do that. Fortunately, that only applies to another department of company.
However, if a client is wanting us to pay for new background checks on current employees, that would be another situation. That is when I would negotiate them paying for the background checks.
Is it worth getting the background check completed? Depends on how badly you want their business.
