Several months ago we hired a bill collector to get our $5K from RM. He had had some success with them, and he also had a client that was owed about $30K from RM (he did not say who or give any details about them, but was just letting me know how bad RM was).
He got us a deal with RM to accept half-payment. The implication was that they were going to have to settle debts this way or go bankrupt. So taking half at that point was more agreeable to possibly getting nothing, and if we did get something, possibly less than half.
He sent over the paperwork. It had a non-disclosure clause. So if we took the half, we would not be able to tell anybody how it all went down, so likely others who have settled their debt with RM are now silent about what went down. We returned the paperwork signed. Apparently a check was on the way. A check never arrived, and the bill collector stopped being able to reach them. He said "They went dark." He said Elaine also quit.
We wrote off the debt.
We occasionally get jobs from our clients that have the RM job numbers, so I guess they are still out there, still ripping people off. If there is an attorney reading this, maybe we can form a small class action lawsuit? Or if anyone knows who RM’s clients are, we should let the clients know that RM is not paying for the work. If you know who their clients are, please let us know.
