You might not work for free but you ARE acting as a free bank with no interest.  I don't know about you area but in our area, copy costs have quadrupled or more.  We will no longer just charge what the courthouse does.  A number of times we are spending MORE than copies than we are being paid to do the search.  We just can't continue to front that kind of money without compensation.
