Sharing fee information on Source of Title has been rare since we opened the forums in 2004.  And fees have continually declined.  My theory is that people don't want to share their fees because either (1) they are afraid someone will undercut their prices and steal their clients, or (2) they don't want others to know that they are the ones undercutting their prices and stealing their clients.

It is very sad.  Before I started Source of Title, abstractors where I work stuck together and we all helped each other.  We would openly share fees and client names and we helped each other cover vacations and sick days.  We didn't worry much about a fellow abstractor stealing our clients.

I just assumed it was like that everywhere and that Source of Title would be a similar environment where we would all help each other and share experiences, knowledge, and information relevant to our profession.   But, it did't quite turn out like that.

Best,

Robert A. Franco, J.D., LL.M.
