I assume that they do not let you make your own copies?  In our clerk's office and recorder's office, I can print or make copies myself.  The few places I can recall where we used to have to request copies for the clerk to make, they were always pretty responsive. I think even those places let you make your own, now.  

But, I can see where that would be frustrating if it's your only option.
