I imagine my response may not be taken well here, but here it is none-the-less... I don't want my job to go overseas. No one does. Everyone who is sitting at home or in an industry other than the one that they anticipated retiring from did not want their job to go overseas. Here is the problem. Who is stopping them? Our government? Our clients? The banks? Us? We are the only ones who actually have anything to lose. We are the only ones who have any true interest in keeping the work here. The Registries are making money. The clients are making money. The banks are making money. The governments is getting their cut. We are taking less and less. Occasionally we even get demoted to "Document retrievals" because the search was done online and they need us to go get the copies that aren't available online. We all need to be proactive and start looking at alternative professions because (maybe with the exception of some rural areas) our jobs are leaving and once they do, they are not going to come back. I will not turn down work from companies that outsource because I can't. Until I establish some alternative career plan this is what I do. I wish that some form of protest would work but the hard truth is that there are 50 people behind each and every one of us poised and ready to take the work we won't. Please don't get me wrong, I am not compromising my standards or willing to do work for free (as some seem to want) but have definitely had to bend with a changing climate in the industry.

Now, for the controversial part (nope that hadn't happened already), you want change? Fight! Fight with the government. I don't mean parties btw. I mean the whole damn thing. This has been happening for a long time and no one, neither party, is stopping it. It's about greased palms and we are just an extension of the banking industry. How can we start working together to make sure that future industries don't endure the same fate???? Even if it's too late for ours? How do we protect ourselves and our children from this cycle repeating over and over every time another country offers a cheaper alternative to something we all know should be done here because no one knows our S*^T  like us!
