Reading over the various responses, I am surprised at the lack of protection for spouses.  Prior to 1978-79 Louisiana had a "head and master" rule, that allowed the husband alone to act with regard to property of the community, that law was repealed as antiquated.  Certainly a wide range of treatment on this issue.
