I grew up in Lubbock and worked for my father who was an attorney who did title work in Lubbock for over 30 years. I moved to Houston in 1982. I have never heard this story. It is quite interesting and does not surprise me. I worked for another title company before I moved away and we had plants in Hockley and Corchran Counties as well as Lubbock County.  I always felt very isolated driving between Levelland and Morton when I had to go out there to search.
