In Rhode Island our land records are located in the individual city and town clerk's office. The most remote place I go to is the Town of New Shoreham which is located on Block Island, a small island about 10 miles off the coast. It is accessible only by ferry or small plane. It's a summer resort and is great when I get to do titles there in the summertime. I usually bring my bike on the ferry and if time allows, I take a bike ride out by the beaches or through the small town. It's beautiful and you can see clear to Long Island, NY from the tip of the island. In the winter the population drops to a few hundred. The ferry schedule is spotty and can even been cancelled due to weather. It hasn't happened to me, but I have a friend who had to spend the night on the clerk's couch because she was there in the dead of winter and the ferry shut down. I've done titles there in the winter. There are about four places open: the town hall, the library, the local grocery and a bar.
