Based on my experience... NC for all types; WV requires attorney supervision and there is much debate between attorneys if you have to be their employee or if just being supervised by attorney is fine; however regardless you must have the attorney oversight.
DE requires all insured work to have opinions issued. MA, SC and LA and some other states have specific attorney requirements based on what the search will be used for as an example in LA to complete a refi they require 2 link/10 years with opinion (not current owner reports), if purchase must have 30+ years and an opinion issued however a current owner report / foreclosure work no opinion. Some clients do not know the regulations in the states that they are doing business in so that makes it challenging. I would reach out to local attorneys if you are doing work and not sure, if have historically found they are willing to help guide you and often provides opportunity for them to work with you to provide the work and/or opinions/supervision.
