We created this site to help your potential customers locate a "local" abtractor, such as yourself. I own an abstracting company and I quite agree that those places aren't always worth working for. I give them my price and if they don't like it, they are free to find someone else. Hopefully more title companies will become aware of this site and you will have the option to become more selective with the clients you choose to work for.

As for quality of work, I don't blame the national companies for looking for a lower price... I blame the abstractors that agree to work for those "reduced rates". There are a lot of inexperienced examiners that will undercut our prices, our only consolation is that one day they will realize that they truly do get what they pay for.

My advice is to stick to your prices and don't let anyone pressure you into changing them. It takes time to provide a quality exam and time is worth money.
