I think in my area of Pennsylvania there are only 3 or 4 independent abstractors that I know of. I became an LLC to protect myself and my family. It is probably overkill. There are alot of lawyers who have started their own abstracting companies and work under two names. They use the same staff they always had, but market it differently. Most lawyers have there own title searcher.
