In the state of Ohio we are permitted to charge $2.00 to notarize a document... not hardly a career there. I use my notary in conjuction with closing loans, where the knowledge and understanding of the loan documents is more important than the notary license itself.

People that do witness only closings charge various amounts, depending on the area and how far they have to travel to do them. They have to be notaries to provide that service.
