Don't be too wary of searchers who list an entire state. Several of us in NC network to cover an entire territory because we did so for a law firm before going it alone. We know the training and quality of each other's work and have complete confidence when sharing orders. Companies are made aware of this network when placing an order, and have the option of calling their particular searcher. Every few weeks we share new contacts and this prevented each of us having to contact everyone at once when we first began. After an order is submitted the company calls that particular searcher the next time they have an order, anyway. This has worked very well for all of us. Networking does work well when trust is present. Often in this industry there seems to be paranoia that someone/everyone is going to 'steal' clients. We reject that mentality and put the client first by offering a wider area of coverage and quick return, knowing new companies will come our way from other professionals with whom we have shared.
