You are totally correct when it comes to new abstractors. I have been doing it for 6 years now. I was taught by a title company for minimum wage for 2 years and was able to start a good abstracting/closing agent company when I moved to Maryland from Virginia. Many people are coming in and trying to cut our legs out from under us without thinking about the old saying, "what comes around, goes around". The one thing I have found to be true in my business is that if you are a good abstractor, have fair prices, and your turnaround time is consistant and quick, the title company will continue to use you and turn away anyone that wants to come in and charge a less but have more problems with their work. I have a couple of companies that I do same day business with and I get all of their business in these counties and some companies I do 24-48 hour turnaround time and only get the work when their abstractor is on vacation.
I am curious to hear from anyone that has the docu scanner and if it can scan the full width of a piece of paper and if it prints out correctly.
