I received the same fax from the same company: TransUnion Settlement Solutions. They provided a glowing report of their business and stated "In order to keep these opportunities and continue to grow, we must all focus on being highly competitive in the industry relative to product quality, delivery time and cost. In order to meet our goals and be considered the best in the industry, we must work directly with you to strengthen our quality standards, tighten our turn time requirements and sharpen our pencils relative to cost."

Indeed, we must all do every thing we can to provide the best product and customer service to our clients. However, we do not have to take a pay cut.

In short, I WILL NOT be lowering my fees to provide service to TransUnion. TransUnion and similar companies cannot provide the business and service footprint without those of us who are faithfully tracking down their documents in the field. I do not believe that TransUnion has the pricing power to require that their agents take a 10% pay cut. My costs of doing business have not decreased by 10%, that's for sure.

TransUnion is a leader in its field and what it does will be closely monitored by the industry. If they are successful in getting their abstractors to cut fees, you can wager that the entire industry will attempt similar product repricing.

I'm going to RAISE my fees for TransUnion and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.
