I was concerned about not being able to preview the scan while at the courthouse. The first few days we scanned with the DocuPen, we also got hard copies (just in case), but once you get used to it, you just start to "know" when you got a good scan. We have not had a problem yet.
The examiners often scan the same page twice when they aren't sure the first one was a good scan and usually both turn out fine.
I have not tried a CapShare, so I really can't compare them fairly. From what I have heard, the CapShare does a great job. However, the DocuPen has been great for us, and I would recommend it if you ever need a replacement for your CapShare.
