I agree with Loretta, book knowledge is one thing but experience is another. Each courthouse has it's own way of doing things, little known facts and tricks of the trade that are unique to that courthouse. If we are not learning something new every now and then either about our business, courthouse, or clients then I know we are missing something. Other abstractors in the courthouses can be helpful or they can view you as competitors and steer you in the wrong direction. This is a very competitive business. This is NOT intended to scare you away from the business. Starting a business and keeping it running is scary enough. You do have responsibilities to yourself, your employees, and your clients. Don't short change any of them or burn any bridges by not getting some experience first.

I would advise at this time not getting a copy of the HOT list until you get that experience. Market and get your own clients. You don't want to burn any bridges while you are just starting out. HOWEVER, if you really think you are ready, follow the instructions on the Lists forum and I will send you a copy. Start out slow with just a few clients or otherwise you could become overwhelmed in a short period of time. Good luck. Jay
