I thought this website, Source of Title was for the entire title industry. I am an abstactor and find the site extremely useful/helpful. But, I believe it is also set up for the companies that use us. How can it be that "We" (abstractors) can get on this site and bash companies that don't pay, give bad searches etc. (case in point the #@$% list!), but as soon as someone attacks an abstractor he is jumped all over. Personally I would like to not see the actual names used in a negative manner in either case. I saw the &&*& list and there were clients of mine on there that I never had a problem with. It would be nice if there was a "happy" medium. You would be able to post a complaint, but yet not ruin a reputation by making false statements. An abstractor could complain of non-payment and we would never know that whole story. Maybe the invoice they sent did not go through the fax correctly, maybe the check got "lost in the mail" (I have had letters get lost that I have sent", I find if you keep carefull records and make follow up calls/faxes, most companies are happy to fix the problem. I am not saying there aren't problem companies/abstractors, because there are. It just seems like we have to be fair. I would hate to see my name tarnished on here and so would everyone else, but I think the companies that use us do not want to see there names tarnished either. Either way, this is a public forum, we have freedom of speech and right to our opinion. I guess in a perfect world each person would stop and think, "How is what I am about to say going to affect everyone that reads it?"
