Mississippi requires no state licences for abstractors. I suspect that is because there are very few abstrators in Mississippi. I practiced law in Mississippi, for many years, with the occasional escape to world of oil and gas leasing. A few years ago I would have said that the only abstractors in Mississippi, worked directly for law firms or title companies. However, I have noticed that there are a few more independent abstrators working now. Abstracting is what I'm doing now and I find it rewarding financially and I like the time out of the office setting.
