Alabama does not require licensing for abstractors, nor is e & o required. I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of licensing or certification process put in place, provided the cost is reasonable. Continuing Education for Abstractors would be welcomed! I've been to a couple of seminars conducted by different Title Insurance companies, but only a small part of the info they offered truly applied, so that was too much money spent for very little. As an independant, I depend on the attorneys & local title companies I work for to help me stay up to date on court decisions and new laws.
