Here in Georgia, there is no licensing requirement to do title searches. I, also, would not mind if there was and if the fee was reasonable. (I doubt Georgia would make it reasonable)! The past couple of years, there was an influx of "abstractors", especially during the summers--a lot of college kids doing summer jobs, who had no experience & were paid very little. At one time, there was a group doing current owners for $7.50 a title! I don't know of any legitimate abstractors who would go w/out E & O. I have $1,000,000.00 myself. The best abstractor can make a mistake & it would be foolhardy to go w/out it.
By the way, RadianExpress sent me an email that they are history!! Any thoughts on that?
