First of all, "Will", I did NOT retract the statement which I originally posted about the company in question. What I DID do was to clarify the circumstances under which the incident in question took place. That company WAS in fact over 60 days past due with us (and I DO have the documentation to prove it...if I'm lying, sue me!!!) I simply thought that the decent thing to do was to make it clear that the company in question fulfilled its PAST DUE obligation to us within a reasonable time frame.
As far as "holding work hostage", that characterization is "bass ackwards". If anything, a client who does not pay me for work I have performed (and for which I have advanced copy fees, labor costs, expenses, etc.) and delivered to them in good faith is HOLDING MY MONEY HOSTAGE!!!!
You don't mention the specific circumstances of the case you cited, but I'd love to know if that searcher was paid in advance, or if he/she has filed a counterclaim against the client company for any amounts past due.
I would suggest that if one is not willing to substantiate a claim, then one should not make the claim in the first place.
Sincerely,
Scott L. Perry, President
