I have been singing the same tune here in Chicago. Datatrace, Datatree and another online from Chgo Title "Property Profile" have caused me to lose significant volume from some major vendor Mgrs. I am only sent the orders that cannot be completed online. The major markets are being captured first for obvious reasons. I consider this the most important topic of the day. I have no answers but I have now begun using the Datatrace plant myself to cover some of the outlying counties, effectively eliminating my own subcontractors. I am now guilty of the same sins of the VMs. With prices getting slashed to the bone, I am left with very tough decisions.Using these online sites for a small fee with my own "Qualified Searchers" has increased my margins and allowed me to keep my own staff productive during these slow times. I have also gained control of the work and replaced crappy faxed docs with digital images. I am sure that I will get slammed by the rest of the Independents out there but I was faced with having to lay off or make some changes.
