Being through 3 mergers/takeovers while working in the IT field, I can tell you that nobody looks forward to a merger, cause typically that means downsizing, and the company that gets taken over is the one that loses naturally. However, if you work in an area where isnt a foothold by your new company, you may be in great shape. The thing I would be most worried about is how their prices match up. When EDS took over Bank of America's helpdesk functions, they made offers to people to join EDS full time at 15k less than what Bank of America paid, and thats if they were willing to take a job an hour to 1 1/2 hours away. (25k less than what I was making 3rd shift......of course not many people make 56k working helpdesk so my example was skewed from the norm)
