Scott,
Thank you for your post, but I would never ever say anyone that has answered was giving me legal advice. I was asking about a proceedure for closings. I really appreciate everyone's help here. I am taking the lady (wife's grandmother) to an attorney for advice on 4/22.
She was never in charge of her finances ....her husband was.... the people moved in her rental house in June..... coerced her to give them a deed of gift(which she did without her sons or daughter knowing)...they told her that they were going to buy the house and wanted the deed in their name to get a mortgage easier. They told her they would pay her 42k on January 15 and 32k december 2004. They did pay her the 42k and said they hadnt closed on the mortgage yet...then she got worried and asked my wife.....then we went down to Hampton city and found the deed of gift and the mortgage signed on feb 12 and recorded 3/24. They are telling her the closing is in 2 weeks from today. All she received so far from these people was 15k (the lady said she borrowed the money from her father)....now they have a new Corvette and a nice house worth 90k for so-far 15k!!!! Ironically the lady in question is trying to get into real estate!!!!!
Maybe you will see a Carlton Sheet type of commercial from her 1 day on how she got a 90k house for 15k!!!!
Sorry for the long post!!!

George
