Hello, Stephanie!

What kind(s) of searches are they asking for? Are they looking for deed and mortgage reports, current owner searches, document retrievals, or full title histories?

In my area, (SW Penna.), current owners run anywhere from $35 to $60. You don't mention in your post where you are, but I would imagine it runs about the same.

If you're considering this line of work, I would at least try to find someone in your area who can show you what's involved. Classroom training is one thing; field experience is quite another.

You should also check into getting some kind of Errors & Omissions (liability) coverage. One missed mortgage on a search can potentially leave you "on the hook" for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Just a few things to consider. Good luck to you.

Regards,
Scott Perry
