I think there are some parts of the country where "independent" abstractors are just not used. I went on a job interview about 10 years ago in King County, Washington. I was out there on a vacation and I liked the area, so I thought I would see what employment opportunities were there. When I told them that I was an independent abstractor, they were totally confused and had no concept of what that was. I guess they use title plants and in-house employees for everything. That could be the case in some areas, but just guessing.

I too would like to know...
