BS. That is true for some states, but not for mine. There are a lot of counties that dont even have Pc's in the office, much less online. And like another post stated, most only go back a little ways. I dont do title searches currently, but I do doc retrieval and some data collection and for most counties, if you want anything back of 2000, you better be ready to wrassle the books.


Here is also another point to consider. Several states will not post images of documents online (California being one) due to laws in place regarding citizen privacy. A lot of counties online are index only with no scans. Some are incomplete on the scanning, and there is one online archiving system that just has some document indexed flat out wrong in some places. This will also affect what goes online, and eventually I believe what stays online. I know there have been counties that have gone online to later either take down their online access or reduce it to index only due to privacy concerns.
