Yes, for now. But don't forget I was once one of these volunteers. I served on your comittee until I saw the direction you really want to take the organization.
I am curious Jay. Why are you now calling for volunteers to the membership committee. When I left you still had six on that comittee with you as the chairman. The comittee was only supposed to be comprised of between 5-7 members. Did others, like me, also decide they no longer wanted to participate in your plan to support and nurture those who want to take their business? There were some on the committee who, like me, wanted the organization to represent the independent abstractors. There were some who saw the falacy of membership comprised of non-abstractors certifying those of us who already were practicing professional abstractors.
I fail to understand why any independent abstractor would want to pay a fee to be certified as an abstractor by association members who are not independent abstractors but only want to be.
As to your contention that this is a not for profit organization> Are you really that naive Jay or just expect others to be. Non profit organizations make a profit. They are required to disburse or spend that profit by the end of the year. Usually by bonuses and benefits to the directors. Some of the highest paid executives are the directors of "non-profit" organizations.
Like I said Jay, I congratulate you. You have put together a brilliant plan. You don't need the independent abstractors to carry it through.
