Robert,
As I understand it there will be no experience requirement of the membership. If fact, there will be no requirement of the membership as to quality, experience or training. The only requirement is that they make the claim of being an abstractor and pay the membership fees.
Has this changed since our last conversation? If it hasn't then this will not be an association of experience abstractors but only one of those who wish to become abstractors so they can compete with the experienced abstractors based on their fees and with the full santion of the association.
It just doesn't make sense to me. The main issue I have seen raised here are that inexperienced, untrained and unqualifed people proclaiming themselves abstractors and buying their way into the business with low fees.
Is it the solution of NALTEA to take these inexperienced, untrained people and legitimize their claim of being abstractors? They will still be inexperienced. They will still attempt to buy their way into the market with low fees. But now they will be able to make the claim of being abstractors by virtue of the fact they pay a fee to a national association of abstractors.
If I am wrong in this, please explain how. Is their some requirement or qualification for membership that I am unaware of? Can anyone become a member simply by claiming to be an abstractor and paying their dues. Are these still the only requirements for membership?
