Hate it when good people get scammed like this.
Just a thought but after about 30 days do an update to see if any new mortgages or deeds of trust have been recorded. Then reach out to the lender and let them know what happened that they maybe dealing with a scam artist who has no intention of honoring any agreement with them since they have no intention of honoring any agreement with you. They may also be willing to share the contact information they have with who they used.
