I think 30 days is fair for everyone.  The companies that pay us within a week or two are spectacular and we REALLY bend over backwards to accomodate them.  Its a two way street... the companies that pay rapidly have earned the right to call me with a same day RUSH when they need it.  The ones that are consitantly two weeks late (by my NET30 terms) we will accomodate if we can, but I'm not going to rearrange my day for them.

I think 30 days is pretty much a standard in most industries, and it used to be in ours.  I'm not sure when companies decided that our bills were less important than anyone else's.  I'm sure those companies that don't pay their abstractors for 45 days, still pay their phone bill, electric bill, etc... on time; why not US?

Just my $0.02!
