You have not found the right abstractor to sub to.
I actually have at least 5 companies that I charge $75-$85 for a current owner (mostly attorneys) and $25 for recordings and I plan on keeping them. I give them 6 hour turn time and instant recording for that fee. They like that. The rest of the title companies get next day service and current owners are $45 to $50 bucks (nationwide companies)and $25 for recordings. With most of them, that is including the copy fee. That is very fair. Sometimes they call and need to reduce the fee $5 bucks, so I do it. I still get all of their work but they won't get me down to $35, I can guarantee that.
Since when can you not lose your house due to error. I am INCORPORATED but they can still take my home.

I work for plenty of  attorneys in Maryland and they have all told me the same thing. If they can't get your business account, they will take your home.
I had a company pay me $2,500 for title work that I did and I went to their bank and cashed the check. The teller cashed the check and should not have done that because there was not enough money in their bank account. They came after me personally. They get $200 a month payment until I pay it off. I wouldn't give them all the money at once just for spite.
Have a great night guys.
