We use a Canon DR-3060 scanner.  It is rated at about 48 pages per minute and has a small footprint so it fits really well on a desk.  We have been very happy with it and have scanned well over 100,000 pages with NO problems.  It is a bit more expensive, we paid around around $2,700.  I just found one on-line for just under $2,400.  Click here for the web page.

It doesn't fax - it is just a scanner.  We set up a separate computer on our network with two fax modems and we use WinFax Pro to send them out.  We used to spend three to four hours faxing with two fax machines, and with this set-up we can get it all done in about an 1½ hours.  Plus we have everything all imaged and indexed in the process.

If you have any questions, let me know... I would be happy to provide more details.
