One thing I try to keep in mind when dealing with the larger "nationwide" companies, especially those which rely heavilly on their "brilliant" computer system:
The greatest volume of orders these folks process are located in major metropolitan areas (where most of the US population is based).
Every market has a natural turnaround time which could be expressed as a line on a graph. Geography, supply of abstractors, demand for services, and a ton of little nuance factors determine where the mean lies (average could be six hours, or sixty-eight).
Unless you are unusually slow, clumsy or greedy...your service is probably somewhere close to that mean, no need to worry.
Getting the customer in the cubicle, in the big metropolitan area to understand this is an entirely different matter (I'm gonna put the diatribe on my answering machine, repeat it way too often). Some roll their eyes and start calling competetors...most of them come back sooner or later.
