Unless you already have some sort of knowledge of this industry, I suggest taking a community college class just to get the general idea of what we all do.  I do not feel that just by taking the class you would be able to go out and work on your own.  But in taking the class, you would have a better chance of landing a job with a title company or attorney who could then train you fully and properly.  There are alot of things you need to know do be an abstractor and the class no where teaches you everything you need to know.  But by taking the class, you have a better idea if you really want to get into this field.

Just my ideas.
