I agree it going to be difficult, but I think it is necessary. I think the fact that there ARE so many differing terms is THE reason we need to do this. NALTEA needs to begin setting some "national" standards. There will always be some regional differences, and there is no way around that, but I think NALTEA can begin to bring it together on a national level.
The biggest reason I think NALTEA needs to do this is for an E&O discount program. The insurance carriers who will be looking at NALTEA's certification process want to see that we have some set some standards for certification and that we have some program in place to ensure that certified abstractors are getting some continuing education.
It is no easy task, but I do believe it is a worthy one. Let's try to help the Education Committee get something started and see where it goes. Let's not give up so easily.
