We are an LLC taxed as an S corp.  This has worked well for us, but of course these things very by state.  Always good advice to check with a lawyer.

As for getting business... there is no easy answer for that one.  You have to find a good client that is willing to work with you until you have proven yourself and your reputation will get out - good or bad.
