If their were only three who contributed, then I must be one of the three and I am not a member of NALTEA or see why NALTEA should own the list over anyone else.
Actually, I don't think it makes much difference anyway. In my opinion, it is NALTEA's list now just as it is everyone's list. If NALTEA wants to use it as a core for developing their own list, I'm all for it and they should certainly have that right.
There is a lot of room for improvement on the list that a NALTEA committee might want to undertake. For example:
Many of the contact numbers are wrong although I understand Loretta checked out all the FAX numbers and verified them. Thank you Loretta. But many of the voice lines seem to be incorrect. Or at least this was my experience.
Mailing addresses could be added.
I found that of those listed, many did not do business in Texas or other states.
Maybe a NALTEA comittee could survey the companies on the list and provide this information.
As far as I am concerned, the list, as it stands now is public domain. Any list NALTEA derives from it would be their proprietary property and a valuable asset they could offer their membership.
However, I don't see how this is going to help the original situation of the list being used by undercutting unqualified and uninsured newbies. Unless I missed something, NALTEA allows anyone to join who makes the claim of being an abstractor and offers up the dues. So it would still be a list made available to the public. Only difference is the NALTEA list would be available only to the paying public.
