I have a much younger cousin who was raised by my mom. She was a special needs child, now she is in her 40's. She became my sister when she was one and I was 12. Oh how I remember those firsts with her... she has given us so much. Your steps with your child may take longer and be harder but oh man... they will be pure joy.
