Here in my part of Texas I work 47 counties and in West Texas and New Mexico within a 140 mile radius of Lubbock County. Last week one tripped to 4 counties logged 440 miles total. I left at 5:30 AM to arrive at the most distant county when the county opened and finally returned home at 6:30.

My fees vary by the distance traveled and the local setup at the county. Many of these rural counties are not computerized and the searches are done from handwritten indexes.

Most of these counties are very sparcely populated so it isn't often that my clients have a need. However some are more populated and my clients use me as a backup when their regular abstractor lets them down.
