How do you get around the law in North Carolina that requires paralegals/abstractors do title work only under the supervision of an attorney?
The way the big title companies get around it now is by putting on the order: "This order was place at the direction of So and So Attorney" -- or something to that effect.
OR they either have an attorney on staff -- or one who signs off on their titles, and supposedly each abstractor knows the name of that attorney if questioned.
The banks cannot contact us directly and ask us to do a title. In this State, that's considered practicing law.
