Yes, surveyors seem to face similar pricing pressures.  I think people have the same attitude towards paying for surveys... "why do I need a new survey? The old one was fine when I bought it." and "why do I need a title search? I had one the last time I refinanced."

I particularly feel bad for the surveyors that do the location surveys.  Around here they don't get paid if the closing falls through.  I have had title companies expect the same thing from their abstractors and with the thin profit margins, we can't do that.  I don't know how the surveyors do it.

Regards,
Robert A. Franco
