I'll give you my thoughts - that is why I think we all need to go up on our fees and not just a little.  I don't think any of us are really putting together a realistic time frame on each order to receive, drive, process, receive payments, do spreadsheets (sometimes), answer questions, update, get supplies, get copies, cost of insurance and office overhead - all that needs to be spread out on each order - and yes they are shifting all liability to us - so why are we taking a smaller piece of the pie - the more liability - the more the fee - isn't that how it should be.  A simple retrieval of a document - drive time, I don't know about you all but many cases I have to stand in a line for copies and sometimes 20 minutes or more - writing up the order and faxing 20 pages is more time consuming than I think all of us realize and we are holding the costs - sometimes more than our service fee - I think we are being stupid and they are loving us for it.  Many doc retrieval companies are using online services (and some are finally being burnt cuz they thought it was such a given not knowing that you cannot find assignments and releases in my state online) and using us just for certified copies - which costs are about 2x the retrieval fee.  How many of you are also doing retrievals?
