Dear Donna - the new insurance company will cover any claims made during the time the policy is in effect as long as you were not aware of any claims prior to applying at least with TIAC that is true. I would suggest like I said if going out of business to add personal liability coverage - you can add it to your homeowner's policy of 1,000,000 for about 100.00 a year. It would cover any claims that you would be personally liable for which if you are out of business or a d/b/a you are personaly liable for any claims. When I was calling about abstracting insurance this was brought up to me actually by an insurance company.
