Actually Jay, I think this is something that needs to be addressed immediately in all 50 states. I understand your concern with concentrating limited resources in one state at a time, but the effort may not be that difficult. I do think it is going to take wide scale effort in all states from members of SOT. There are over three thousand members who if motivated could become active in all the states. Whether they choose to do so or not is another matter. Several weeks ago one of the signing agents made a very astute observation when she said this board needs a jump start. We definitely need to get more participation among all of the SOT members. If you compare our board to the signing agents board it becomes immediately apparent that there is much more activity on the other boards. I also notice that the signing agents are confronted with many of the same dilemas as the abstractors with pressue to reduce their prices. They are also starting to face a similar threat to the thin title plants with the growth of on line document signings, and they are taking a much more aggressive stand on the issue. SOT has a wealth of title prodessionals at its disposal. It needs to become motivated to promote the interests of the membership both in combating the outsoucing of this country's intellectual assets as well as in marketing their skills.
