I agree with what you are saying Robert. However, it would be a safety net for anyone to get that insurance. Suits can be brought against someone both doing business as and individually if there is any loophole the Plaintiff can find in suing the person individually and no matter what the insurer says it doesn't cover I would think that those same loopholes could allow the claim to attach to the personal liability policy in effect at the time. And while we are on the subject maybe we should fight for the insurance companies to cover any claim that would arise from and thereafter when the work was done while covered by the insured. Another thing while we are on the subject of insurance - I hope everyone is insuring their vehicles for business use if they also use it for personal use and if they use a portion of their home for the office and have their equipment in their home - all equipment has to be covered separately in your homeowner's policy as business equipment - or it will not be covered in the event of a fire, etc.
